Most government schools are affiliated with CBSE, while private schools include CBSE, ICSE, and state board affiliations. Under UDISE Plus 2026-27, all Delhi schools β government, aided, and private β must complete data submission at udiseplus.gov.in including mandatory APAAR ID and infrastructure updates.

Key Education Facts β Delhi in UDISE+ 2026-27
- Delhi has 6,000+ schools with over 1,000 government schools operated by the Directorate of Education β each has a unique UDISE Code for SDMS login
- Delhi's literacy rate of 86.2% is among the highest in India β the state has achieved near-universal school enrolment for children aged 6β14
- The DoE Delhi's Mentor Teacher Programme places trained mentors in government schools β mentor details are entered under the teacher module in UDISE+
- Delhi has a unique multi-shift school system where a single building runs two shifts (morning and evening) β each shift school has its own UDISE Code and separate data entry
- Under the Delhi Mission Buniyaad, remedial learning data for Classes 3β6 is tracked β while this is a state-level system, UDISE+ enrolment data feeds into remedial programme targeting
- Delhi's dense migrant worker population means school rolls include children from across India β SDMS requires home state data for such students under APAAR ID rules
- Private schools in Delhi must submit UDISE Plus data by January 31 each year or risk recognition renewal issues β the DoE monitors private school submission rates

Common Challenges β Delhi Schools
- Multi-shift schools in Delhi are frequently entered under a single UDISE Code by mistake β this inflates per-school student counts and must be corrected by the district UDISE nodal officer
- Delhi's high proportion of migrant students (from UP, Bihar, Rajasthan) creates challenges in APAAR ID linking β student Aadhaar may be registered in home state, requiring cross-state verification
- Private unaided minority schools in Delhi cite constitutional exemptions to resist UDISE Plus submission β the DoE has issued clarifications mandating compliance for all recognition-holders
- Schools near slum/JJ cluster areas have irregular student attendance patterns β UDISE Plus enrolment figures may not match actual attendance, requiring careful head-count based entry
- CBSE-affiliated schools often confuse CBSE affiliation number with UDISE Code β these are different identifiers and the 11-digit UDISE Code must be used for SDMS login
Data Entry Tips for Delhi Teachers
- Delhi government school teachers can verify their school's UDISE Code on the DoE Delhi website under the "School Information" section β this is the correct code for SDMS login
- Multi-shift schools must log in separately for each shift β morning shift and evening shift have different UDISE Codes; entering one shift's data under the other UDISE Code is a critical error
- Use the APAAR ID bulk upload template in SDMS for large Delhi schools β manual entry for 1,000+ students is time-consuming and error-prone
- Update the "School Category" as Urban for all Delhi schools β Delhi has no rural schools in the UDISE+ classification and incorrect category affects per-student grant calculation
- Delhi schools should complete the Library and Digital Resource section in UDISE+ β the DoE uses this data to allocate digital tablets and e-library resources to government schools
